Open Access Policy

Effective date: 31 July 2026

Instrumentation is a fully open access, peer-reviewed journal published by the China Instrument and Control Society. All articles are made immediately and permanently available online upon publication. Readers may access the full text without subscription fees, registration requirements, or embargo periods.

1. Access Rights

All articles published in Instrumentation are freely available for anyone to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link to, and use for lawful scholarly, educational, professional, and other purposes, subject to the applicable open access license.

2. Copyright

Authors retain the copyright of their published work.

By submitting and publishing an article in Instrumentation, the authors grant the journal the right of first publication and a non-exclusive right to publish, distribute, archive, preserve, and identify the journal as the original place of publication.

No transfer of copyright to the journal is required.

3. Creative Commons License

Unless otherwise stated on the article page, articles published in Instrumentation are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Under the CC BY 4.0 license, users may:

  • copy and redistribute the published material in any medium or format;
  • adapt, remix, transform, and build upon the published material;
  • use the material for academic, educational, professional, and commercial purposes.

Users must:

  • give appropriate credit to the author or authors;
  • cite the original publication in Instrumentation;
  • provide a link to the CC BY 4.0 license;
  • indicate whether any changes have been made;
  • avoid implying endorsement by the authors, editors, journal, or publisher.

4. Third-Party Materials

Figures, photographs, datasets, tables, maps, software, or other third-party materials included in an article may be subject to different copyright or licensing conditions. Where such material is excluded from the article's Creative Commons license, the relevant credit line or copyright notice will apply.

Authors are responsible for obtaining all necessary permissions for the use and publication of copyrighted third-party materials.

5. Self-Archiving and Repository Policy

Authors may deposit and share the submitted manuscript, accepted manuscript, or final published version in institutional repositories, subject repositories, personal academic websites, funder repositories, or other recognized scholarly platforms.

No embargo period is imposed by Instrumentation.

Deposited versions should include:

  • the full bibliographic citation;
  • the article DOI;
  • a link to the version of record on the journal website;
  • the applicable Creative Commons license.

6. Text and Data Mining

Text and data mining of published content is permitted in accordance with the CC BY 4.0 license, applicable laws, and appropriate attribution requirements.

7. Long-Term Access and Preservation

The journal is committed to maintaining the accessibility and integrity of its published content. Article metadata, digital files, identifiers, and publication records are preserved through the journal's publishing and archiving systems.
